. . . AND FOUND
A LONG-LOST friend and co-author was being sought by Terry Gould, 80, of Steyning, West Sussex. ‘As teenagers in the 1950s, Tony Dearling and I worked in the engineering lab of the Morgan Crucible Company in Battersea, South London. ‘We challenged each other to write a book together, but it wasn’t as easy as we thought. ‘We lost touch years ago when I moved away, but I recently came across the half-finished manuscript. I re-read the story, a murder mystery called Double Cross, which seemed pretty good for two 19-year-olds, so decided to complete it.’ Dr Aileen Reid, of University College London, sent us details about Tony from a networking website, and we also tracked down one of his friends. He’d been living in South Africa for decades working as an engineer, but died two years ago. ‘I’ve put an acknowledgment to him in the book that we started together so long ago,’ says Terry.
