Superstar art guru turns heads at Venice wedding
HE’S a cricket tycoon who fled his native India, but Lalit Modi had no trouble attracting London society to his daughter’s Venice wedding.
Top art dealer Simon de Pury wore a pink turban as he and his diamond heiress girlfriend Carol Asscher witnessed interior designer Aliya Modi exchanging vows with U.S. health entrepreneur Brett Carlson. Other guests included Chelsea socialite Amanda Eliasch. ‘It was an amazing, lavish wedding,’ one attendee tells me.
Aliya’s father, (pictured with de Pury and Asscher) founded the Indian Premier League in 2008.
Modi left his homeland after being accused of misconduct and financial irregularities. He denied any wrongdoing and blamed political rivalries.
