JENNIFER HUDSON (pictured) shares her gospel roots with Aretha Franklin, and really delivers on the singing side of this biopic of the Queen of Soul, which arrives on Amazon’s subscription service today. Hudson is great on the dramatic acting side of it, too, in a story that follows Franklin’s life from her troubled beginnings in Detroit to becoming a global superstar. Forest Whitaker plays her pastor father, while Marlon Wayans is her abusive first husband and manager, Ted White.
