Today’s poem

-

I had a phone call the

other day. Amazing! A blast from

the past! She said: ‘I am your doctor.’ Incredible! A real one? At last? I thought they were out

of existence, That Covid had blown

them away. Could they really be

surviving out there? Would we actually meet

some day? She said: ‘I see you have Covid. Not helpful at your age,

of course. But keep on taking

the tablets. The medic has left

his report.’ She asked me a few

further questions, Saying: ‘Don’t worry, I’m

sure you’ll be fine. If not, you know

the procedure, Phone 111 for assistance

— emergency 999!’ It is good to know there are

doctors around, I’m glad they are back on

the scene. One day they might have

appointments again. In person, you know what

I mean? I remember the days when

a doctor would call, Visiting in your home. So personal and caring — Not just a voice on a phone.
