TRYING to keep new shoes clean can be a stressful task.

But fashion house Balenciaga appears to have come up with an interesting solution – selling trainers that look like they have been ruined already.

The Spanish brand has released a range of ‘fully destroyed’ footwear, costing £1,290.

The filthy-looking limited edition Paris high top trainers come with stains, scuff marks and fake holes.

The product description asks customers to ‘wipe with a soft cloth’ if they get dirty.

The Balenciaga website reads: ‘A dedicated campaign shows the shoes extremely worn, marked up, and dirtied. These still life portraits, by photographer Leopold Duchemin, suggest that Paris Sneakers are meant to be worn for a lifetime.’

Shoppers poked fun at the expensive trainers on social media. One said: ‘I was just about to throw out my 12-year-old Vans. But I guess they are high fashion.’

Another joked: ‘I just won’t pay rent and in a month or so my shoes should look the same.’
