How I Met Your Mother was one of the most popular U.S. sitcoms of the 21st century, running for nine seasons between 2005 and 2014 as it followed a couple’s path to romance — as told by the husband, Ted, to their children — while recounting the many misadventures of Ted and his friends along the way. It was a 208-episode romcom, and this new spinoff show is essentially the same, but from a woman’s perspective. Sex And The City’s Kim Cattrall plays the grown-up Sophie in the year 2050, explaining to her son how her young self found his dad. The Sophie of 2022 (Hilary Duff, pictured far right with Francia Raisa) is an unlucky-in-love photographer looking for her soulmate — and in the first episdode, she thinks she might have found him, until her date reveals he’s moving to Australia. All ten episodes are available from today as a box set — and the show has already been renewed for a 20-episode second season. If you’re after glossy sitcom laughs, this is for you.
