Postal madness
TOM UTLEY asks why Royal Mail offers a secondclass service.
When I moved house, I paid £100 for my mail to be redirected to my new address for 12 months. Despite this, it continued to be delivered to my old address, even after I had complained three times and they had promised to ‘escalate the matter’. Finally, the fee was refunded.
I contacted the new occupiers to explain and apologise that they were having to redirect my mail.
They said not to worry as they were experiencing the same problem.
Subsequently, I received redirected mail addressed to the new occupiers! As Richard Littlejohn would say, you couldn’t make it up.
