Facing up to being best version of me
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Kathryn Knight, who says £4,000 for a nose job is the best cash she’s ever spent (Femail). If you have a facial feature you dislike and it impacts your confidence, get it changed if you can afford it. My only recommendation is to do your homework so you get a good surgeon. During lockdown, looking at myself on so many Zoom calls made me realise I really wanted a ‘refresh’. I used the money that would have gone on holidays on having a face, neck and eye-lift. It wasn’t to look young, but not to look so tired. You can see the subtle difference in the before and after pictures — I don’t think I look like the Bride of Frankenstein! I am 68 and have worked all my life. We can’t take it with us, so why not enjoy it while we can? If someone compliments me, I am quite happy to tell them I’ve had a face-lift. I don’t think you should be ashamed of having cosmetic procedures and hopefully, my frankness will make other people feel more confident to do the same. Obviously, it is sad that younger people feel under pressure to copy the unrealistically perfect Kardashians. Looking like the airbrushed photos on social media will not make them more popular. We should learn to be happy with ourselves.

Her smooth complexion and youthful looks at the age of 76 can’t really be down to great lighting in the photographic studio, as she claims. It’s strange that celebrities are so reluctant to admit they’ve had a lot of work done. I’m all in favour of people wanting to make the most of their looks, but there’s no way I’d want to look like a teenager again. It’s enough that I’m often told I don’t look my age.
