Lincoln keen on Carrick

- SAMI MOKBEL

MICHAEL CARRICK is a shock contender for the vacant head coach’s job at League One club Lincoln City. The former Manchester United midfielder is looking for his first full-time managerial job and is emerging as a candidate for the role at Sincil Bank. Carrick has coached extensively at Old Trafford — and was part of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backroom team.

He was United’s caretaker boss for three games earlier this season after Solskjaer’s sacking, but left after Ralf Rangnick was appointed as the club’s interim head coach. Carrick, 40, is believed to be considering the Lincoln job but is undecided so far. The club are searching for a new manager after the departure of Michael Appleton in late April.
