Winslet shows mummy knows best... especially when she’s the co-star!
FINDING actors with the right chemistry can be a tricky task. But directors on Kate Winslet’s latest production need not worry – her onscreen daughter is played by her real-life child.
These exclusive pictures obtained by the Daily Mail show Mia Threapleton, 21, filming scenes with her mother for the first featurelength episode of Channel 4’s I Am series – the first project they have done together where both play major roles.
Miss Threapleton had a small part in 2014’s A Little Chaos, where 46-year-old Miss Winslet was the lead.
Taken on the set of I Am Ruth in Surrey this month, the pictures show Miss Threapleton, who starred in the low budget 2020 film Shadows, dressed in fishnet tights, a short check skirt and black T-shirt. Miss Winslet looks casual in leggings, T-shirt and a navy coat.
The female-led anthology show created by Dominic Savage has featured stars including Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton and Suranne Jones. Episodes are developed in collaboration with the leading actress, for whom each story has personal resonance.
The I Am films explore the experience of women in moments that are ‘emotionally raw and thought-provoking’, according to Channel 4.
Miss Threapleton’s father is director Jim Threapleton, to whom Oscar-winning Miss Winslet was married from 1998 until 2001.
