A TEENAGER has been charged with murdering a talented dancer as he made his way home from his school prom.

Kajetan Migdal, 18 – who has appeared on a BBC talent show – was attacked on his return from the Year 13 leavers’ disco on Friday night.

Patrick Sharp, 18, appeared in court yesterday accused of the killing and was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon and cocaine.

He spoke only to confirm his name at the five-minute hearing at St Albans Magistrates’ Court. Mr Migdal had been on his way back from the Saint John Henry Newman Catholic School prom when he was attacked in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. He was taken to nearby Lister Hospital but was pronounced dead in the early hours of the next morning.

The schoolboy was a member of dance troupe Prospects Fraternity, which got to the live challenge round of the BBC’s The Greatest Dancer in 2019 and performed before judges such as Cheryl Cole and Oti Mabuse.

His parents Gemma and Janusz, who runs a plumbing firm, said their son would be missed by everyone who knew him.

‘Kajetan was a loving, joy-filled young man with a bright future. He was known for his love of dance, animals, hard work and caring friendships. As a high achiever academically and in his hobbies, he was set for big things,’ they said in a statement issued through Hertfordshire Police.

‘He had just finished school and had his life to look forward to, the entire family is devastated at the loss of a much loved family member and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him,’ they added.

Mr Migdal’s head teacher, Clive Mathew, said he had planned to have a gap year before continuing his studies.

‘Kajetan was spending the evening with his school friends and staff celebrating the achievements and memories of his seven years in the school when he was killed in an attack close to the venue.

‘He was a continual source of pride for the school and was well known for his love of

dance,’ he said. A GoFundMe page set up by Mr Migdal’s aunt, Corrie Everett, has raised more than £17,000.

She wrote on it: ‘My handsome, talented, smart nephew... had his whole life ahead of him and an exciting summer planned, and a sick, evil individual has taken all that away from him and all of us.

‘He leaves behind his parents... his younger brother Fabian and our extended family across the globe.’

Sharp was remanded in custody and will appear at Luton Crown Court tomorrow.
