Charles gets into the Jubilee swing
The Prince of Wales got the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations off to a swinging start yesterday at a tea dance.
Charles joined TV star Jools holland and soul singer Ruby Turner to surprise more than 250 guests at the bash.
It was thrown by the Prince’s Foundation at highgrove house, Charles’s private residence in Gloucestershire, for people in the community who might be struggling with loneliness.
They enjoyed an afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, scones and a glass or two of highgrove prosecco, while enjoying live music.
The guests were unaware the prince would be joining them and his entrance was met with delighted gasps. Charles later joined Bridget Tibbs for a tango to a rendition of Just Softly As A Morning Sunrise.
Miss Tibbs, an alpaca farmer, said: ‘he was very lovely to dance with, a lovely sense of rhythm, a nice hold.’
New pictures released yesterday of Charles and Camilla’s trip in March to Albert Square showed them enjoying a Cockney knees-up.
They toasted the Queen during a trip to film a jubilee episode of eastenders, which airs tomorrow, and chatted to cast members.
