■ HERE’S one for the pub quiz:
which former Labour Prime Minister and his wife own a breathtaking £6.3 million Chelsea house? While most will answer Tony and Cherie Blair, it is in fact Blair’s Australian counterpart, Kevin Rudd, and his wife Therese Rein. I can disclose that Rudd and Therese snapped up the ‘perfect’ 18th-century home back in 2015 — but their ownership only emerged this week following the sale of exquisite paintings, furniture and antiques coyly described as ‘from the London property of a former Australian Prime Minister’. Conducted by auctioneers Dreweatts, the sale raised nearly £200,000. Rudd declines to comment.
