Ralf’s Austria off to a flier

-

RALF RANGNICK enjoyed a dream start as AUSTRIA head coach last night with a 3-0 win over CROATIA in their UEFA Nations League opener.

The 63-year-old severed ties with Manchester United last week after deciding he could not combine his consultancy role with the Austria job.

Former West Ham midfielder Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring in Rangnick’s first game in charge before Michael Gregoritsch and Marcel Sabitzer struck in the second half.

Karim Benzema’s glorious solo effort was not enough to prevent FRANCE from losing 2-1 at home to DENMARK. The Real Madrid striker ran through the Danish defence before scoring but a late double from Andreas Cornelius secured a Danish upset at the Stade de France.

Tottenham forward Steven Bergwijn put HOLLAND on course for a 4-1 thrashing of BELGIUM in a match that saw Chelsea striker Romelu Lukuku limp off injured in the first half after a clash with Nathan Ake. Memphis Depay was on target twice in Brussels along with Denzel Dumfries, before Michy Batshuayi pulled one back in stoppage time.
