LIONEL MESSI scored all five goals as ARGENTINA thrashed ESTONIA 5-0 last night in a friendly in Pamplona. The 34-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot on eight minutes and completed his hat-trick with strikes just before and after halftime. And he scored goals 85 and 86 for his country in quick succession in the match’s final 20 minutes. It takes him past Hungary legend Ferenc Puskas into fourth on the international goals list. He remains a way off leader Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to 117 with a double in PORTUGAL’s 4-0 Nations League win over SWITZERLAND.

FINLAND’S Kalle Samooja carded a stunning final round of 64 to overturn a seven-shot deficit and claim his first dP World Tour title at the Porsche European Open in Hamburg. Samooja, 34, fired eight birdies, including three in the last four holes, to establish a new course record and set a clubhouse target of six under par. Holland’s Wil Besseling secured second place on four under, with France’s Victor Perez and England’s Richard Mansell joint third on three under. Samooja fought back tears as he said: ‘It’s truly special. It’s been a long journey, been close a few times. I was just hoping to get a solo second and get a ticket to the US Open but this is a little better.’

WAKEFIELD captain Jacob Miller capped a tremendous fightback with a golden goal drop-goal to secure his side a 19-18 victory over Hull and ease their Super League relegation fears. Trinity trailed 18-6 at the break but clawed their way back before full back Lee Gaskell’s converted try on 78 minutes sent the game into extra time. Hull captain Luke Gale had two chances to win it but Miller had the final say as Wakefield snatched a first win in two months. Wakefield centre Reece Lyne, who hopes to line up for England against the Combined Nations All Stars a week on Saturday, hobbled off early on.
