Anton: I can’t use a saucepan

HE burned up the dancefloor as a Strictly Come Dancing professional.

And Anton Du Beke might need the smoke alarm on hand for his latest TV show after admitting he had never learnt to cook before joining the programme.

The 55-year-old, pictured right, will make his debut on ITV’s Cooking With The Stars tonight. Speaking ahead of the opening episode, he said: ‘I don’t cook at all. I’ve never cooked anything in my entire life... The first time I cooked anything was the first morning of training [for the show]. It was the first time I’d been in a kitchen and cooked something with a pan on a stove.’

The show will see eight celebrities – including Olympian Dame Kelly Holmes and TV expert Dr Ranj Singh – work with acclaimed chefs to become restaurantstandard cooks. The six-part series starts tonight at 8pm.
