DAVID SIMON was the man behind The Wire, the scintillating crime drama that, between 2002 and 2008, took us into the dark heart of the violence, corruption and poverty of inner-city Baltimore. Now, he and co-writer George Pelecanos whisk us back to those hellish streets with a powerful new follow-up, this time zeroing in on the issue of police brutality and corruption. Based on a book by Baltimore Sun journalist Justin Fenton and filmed entirely on location in the U.S. city, the six-part series tells the true story of an elite police unit out of control. The Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force (GTTF) was set up in 2007 to take guns and criminals off the streets, but its members abused their powers to line their own pockets. Jon Bernthal (pictured) stars as the brutal ringleader, Sergeant Wayne Jenkins, while British actor Wunmi Mosaku plays an attorney working to bring the rogue officers to justice.
