Struggle to manage
MY 2022/2023 pension rise and council tax bill for the same period arrived in the same post. I’m the proud owner of an extra £1.50 per week.
However, this and more will be gobbled up by ginormous utility bills. JAMES ROBERT-POULAIN,
Bexhill-on-Sea, e. Sussex. AS A pensioner not quite qualifying for any benefit, the choice is between eating, heating and paying council tax. Would non-payment of council tax means free heating and eating in jail?
BILL MURDOCH, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
I’M ABOUT to turn 80 and have received the news that I qualify for an extra 25p a week on my state pension.
This paltry increase is an affront to the recipients. It’s surely time to re-evaluate this farce. Either scrap the 25p increase or, better still, raise it to an adequate level. GRAHAM ANDREWS,
Bideford, Devon. MY CAR insurance has risen by £117 and milk has gone up 6p a pint. However, I am 80 and have qualified for a rise in my pension of 25p a week — far less than the postage to let me know the good news. COLIN BRADFORD,
Leek, Staffs.
