City step up chase for Saka

- By ADRIAN KAJUMBA

MANCHESTER CITY have stepped up their interest in Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka. The champions are closely monitoring developments as Saka heads into the final two years of his contract. Along with Liverpool, City have earmarked 20-year-old Saka as a future target. And though any move this summer is unlikely, City are showing increased interest at a critical point in Arsenal’s bid to tie him to a long-term deal. Securing Saka on an improved contract is one of Arsenal’s priorities this summer. Initial discussions have taken place, with the Gunners keen to avoid allowing his deal to run into its final two years. City and Liverpool will prioritise strengthening in central midfield this summer. But Arsenal’s failure to make the Champions League has increased hopes Saka’s longterm future will remain up in the air beyond this window, playing into their hands.
