Zelensky cheers PM survival
UKRAINE’S president Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday hailed the ‘great news’ of Boris Johnson’s success in the no-confidence vote against him.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, the leaders have struck up a special relationship. They call regularly, including just a few hours before the crunch vote.
Mr Zelensky’s endorsement was a slap in the face to Leftleaning critics who had ridiculed the idea of Mr Zelensky expressing his support for Mr Johnson.
During an online forum arranged by the Financial Times, Mr Zelensky said: ‘I am very happy. He is a true friend of Ukraine. I am glad we have not lost a very important ally. This is great news.’
Mr Johnson was among the first leaders to visit Kyiv in the war, and the UK is a major donor of weapons and funding.
