Today’s poem

- SEVENTY YEARS

A king who died before his time, A father greatly missed. To be the Queen at 25 — This wasn’t on her list. But sadness and resolve combined To aid her path of duty. She was so young, she was much loved, A warm smile gave her beauty. When she reached 21 she’d said Her aim would be to serve All of her people all her life From this she would not swerve. We now know this resolve was true, For seven decades she’s been Our much-loved reigning monarch, Our loved and lovely Queen. She’s had to deal with hurt and loss, But always had ability To ride and weather every storm, With calm and quiet nobility. So now we mark the 70 years, How wonderful she’s been. We give thanks for Her Majesty And sing: ‘God Save The Queen.’
