Lecturer in court over wife’s death
A UNIVERSITY lecturer accused of murdering his academic wife appeared in court yesterday.
Dr Ertan Ersoy, 50, is said to have attacked Dr Antonella Castelvedere, 52, pictured, at their home last week.
The economics lecturer, a visiting fellow at the University of Suffolk, was not asked to enter a plea during a short hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.
Police were called to the couple’s £260,000 Victorian end-ofterrace house in Colchester in June 1 after a neighbour ‘heard shouting for help’.
Ersoy was arrested on suspicion of murder. Dr Castelvedere, who lectured in English and Creative Writing at the University of Suffolk, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ersoy was remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court today.
