Craig Charles axed in Radio 2 DJ shake-up

-

CRAIG Charles’ show has been axed from Radio 2’s weekend schedule while other popular shows are being moved, as part of changes at the station which have sparked anger from listeners.

As part of the changes, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK judge Michelle Visage has been given a new show, along with Waterloo Road actress Angela Griffin and DJ Spoony. But the moves have angered some listeners, particularly around the decision to move time slots for both Tony Blackburn’s Golden Hour and Sounds of the 80s with Gary Davies.

Blackburn and Davies’ shows both currently air on Friday nights but are being moved to Sunday and Saturday nights respectively. One listener said this was ‘shocking news’, adding ‘shame on you’, while another criticised moving Blackburn to the ‘dead spot of Sunday night’.

One insider also told the Mail there are ‘a lot of unhappy DJs at the moment as a result’. However while Craig Charles’ Radio 2 show will go, he will carry on hosting his Radio 6 Music show each weekday and The Craig Charles Funk And Soul Show on Saturday nights.
