Tindall: The royal rascals were on sugar high from sweets

- Daily Mail Reporter

THE royal children were on a sugar high throughout the long Jubilee Pageant celebration thanks to a stash of sweets, Mike Tindall has revealed.

The former England rugby star, husband to the Queen’s eldest granddaughter Zara Phillips, sat next to Boris Johnson at the weekend’s event.

Tindall, who has three children – Mia, eight, Lena, three, and Lucas, 14 months – spoke about how his eldest two and William and Kate’s four-year-old son Louis coped. He said: ‘Louis, he was just wanting to have fun, and my two are always mischievous, so it was trying to keep a lid on.

‘There was a lot of sweets out back though, so they had complete sugar highs. As any parent knows, you just do whatever needs to be done.’

As the pageant came down The Mall on Sunday, Prince Louis stole the show by pulling faces and putting his hand over his mother’s mouth. He also spent time on his grandfather Prince Charles’ lap and at one point Tindall, sitting behind him, gave him a cheeky ‘I’m watching you’ gesture.

Tindall told yesterday’s The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast: ‘I’ve always said to you [the Queen] was funny, but she nailed it.’ Of her mini-film with Paddington Bear, he added: ‘She’s officially now a qualified actor – that was the best thing.’

Asked if he talked politics with the rival leaders, he said: ‘I was talking about the ability to firefight with Boris Johnson.’
