Gemma Owen’s former lover enters villa... and has romance rekindled?
SHE has been on Love Island a week and already coupled up with three different men.
And Gemma Owen’s time on the ITV2 show got even more eventful last night when her exboyfriend walked into the villa.
The daughter of former England footballer Michael Owen was ‘shocked’ to see the latest singleton joining the series was old flame Jacques O’Neill, 23.
The 19-year- old and professional rugby league player were together for eight months, but the relationship ended a year and a half ago.
Mr O’Neill entered the Majorcan villa last night and enjoyed two dates with single girls Paige Thorne and Afia Tonkmor.
As the girls spied on his first date with Miss Thorne, Miss Owen said: ‘I am not being funny but from the back of it, it looks like my ex’, before later saying: ‘Oh my god, no, that’s my ex boyfriend.’ On his date with Miss Tonkmor, Mr O’Neill admitted his break up with Miss Owen was not amicable.
Later Miss Owen revealed she still had a crush on her ex, telling the girls: ‘I do fancy him like 100 per cent, I look at him and I think: You are fit.’
In a lewd drinking game in which participants’ secrets are exposed, Mr O’Neill admitted having fancied a girlfriend’s mother. Miss Owen took it to mean hers and rolled her eyes. And it seems there may be enduring feelings between the pair as the rugby star, who plays for Yorkshire’s Castleford Tigers, admitted he still ‘cares’ for his ex. ‘It’s nice to see you,’ he said as they sat chatting one-on-one. ‘I’m going to be looking out for you... I still want the best for you.’ Miss Owen responded: ‘I want the best for you, too. It’s just a weird situation.’
Asked if he’s allowed to have a ‘flirt’ with her, Miss Owen said: ‘I’m not going to say no, but don’t be expecting me to give you anything back.’
