Girlfriend in China tracks down missing Briton she met during pandemic... and learns he’s in Norwich with his ‘Mrs and kids’

- By James Tozer

THeY struck up a relationship after finding themselves trapped in china in the early stages of the pandemic.

But when Paul Magee failed to return from a trip home to the UK, his worried girlfriend sent out a plea for information – only to discover he was in Norwich with his partner and children.

American volleyball player Rachel Waters, 26, had been living with 40-yearold Mr Magee, who was working in Shenzhen in south-east china when he became stuck there as covid broke out.

Miss Waters, who is originally from South carolina but was working as a brand manager in china, posted on the Norwich community Notice Board Face

‘Not funny in the slightest’

book group hoping members in his home city might have known his whereabouts.

She wrote: ‘i have an unusual ask. My boyfriend, Paul Magee, and i live in Shenzhen, china.

‘ He went home ( Norwich) at the beginning of April to visit and was supposed to be back in china by now. However, i have not heard from him recently and am worried something might have happened.

‘if anyone knows of anything, please reach out to me.’

But one group member knew much more than Miss Waters had been expecting.

An eagle- eyed friend of Mr Magee’s partner spotted the post, and revealed: ‘He has a Mrs and children and i really feel for her right now! And another girlfriend in china it seems.’

As the bizarre story came to light, another friend added that it was ‘not funny for her in the slightest.’ Apparently heartbroken, Miss Waters removed her original post. Meanwhile Mr Magee was keeping a low profile at his £500,000 home in Brundall, near Norwich, where he is understood to be back living with partner Samantha Shirley overall and their three children.

Miss Waters revealed her true feelings in a Facebook post, alongside a selfie and the hashtag ‘cheating B******’.

Miss Waters also wrote: ‘Alexa, play Ain’t S*** by Doja cat’ – a reference to a pop song in which the rapper calls out unfaithful men. Miss Waters’s father chris was quick to comment, writing: ‘So sorry, Rachel, hang in there...’

Miss Waters, who is also a parttime vlogger uploading ‘hilarious dating fails’ on her YouTube channel, told Mailonline the situation was ‘unfortunate’.

However, a friend of Mr Magee insisted that he and his partner in the UK, Miss overall, were previously separated and claimed there was no overlap between the two relationships.

‘Paul and his partner didn’t see each other for two years,’ they told The Sun. ‘He recently returned, and they sort of got back together. They’ve thought, “let’s give it another go”.
