THE ASTONISHING success of a revolutionary suspension pillow has taken the world of bedding by surprise.
Inventor Alexander Miles used the engineering principle of bracing to solve the problem of pillows collapsing — and with its patented internal ties, his design has transformed sleep for hundreds of thousands of people.
In response to enquiries from customers looking for a reasonably priced solution to another perennial sleep problem, overheating, Alex has now come up with a similarly novel undersheet and pillow cover, which are also winning rave reviews.
Looking at products on the market, Alex could see that they were often expensive and complicated.
He says: ‘With cooling mattress toppers costing £200 or more, and electric cooling systems starting at £600 with the associated running costs, we thought that there must be a more cost-effective solution to this widespread problem.’
The answer came in the form of a new type of fibre with an extremely high thermal conductivity.
Simply put, once this fibre is woven into a fabric it moves heat away from the body very efficiently — so quickly that it actually feels cold to the touch.
‘We were astonished when we first felt it, as we could not believe how cool it was.’
Samples were sent to a number of customers for feedback and the comments were overwhelmingly positive.
‘Ladies suffering with hot nights due to the menopause said they had slept soundly for the first time in years — and people experiencing night sweats after a COVID jab said the new fabric under sheet and pillow cover brought relief. Available in standard single, double, king, and superking sizes, the fitted sheets have a flexible elasticated skirt that will fit mattresses up to 50cm deep. Pillowcovers are also available to fit all standard UK pillows including the suspension pillow.
The sheets and pillow covers are designed to be used under cotton sheets and pillowcases but can also be used as top-sheets and pillowcases for maximum cooling effect.
