Recalled Care set to tour Oz
DANNY CARE is now a leading contender to tour Australia with England this summer after the veteran Harlequins scrum-half returned to Eddie Jones’ squad for the first time in four years. Care, 35, last night received a shock summons from England head coach Jones for Sunday’s clash with the Barbarians, as exclusively revealed yesterday.
The last of Care’s 84 Test caps came in November 2018. He has not been picked by Jones since, despite his consistent and impressive form for Harlequins. With doubts over whether
England’s record cap holder Ben Youngs will feature against Australia after the death of his brother Tom’s wife Tiffany, Care provides Jones with some much-needed experience. ‘This is a strong, diverse squad,’ said Jones. ‘There are a lot of exciting young players and some experienced players who have another opportunity to shine. ‘Everyone will be given the chance to make their case for being part of the Australia tour.’
