T P SPIN AT THE TEST
OLLIE POPE and Joe Root became the first No 3 and No 4 to make a century in the same innings for England since Gary Ballance and Ian Bell v India at Southampton in 2014.
ROOT reached his century from 116 balls — the fastest of his 27 Test hundreds. His previous quickest had taken 118, against Australia at Cardiff in 2015.
ROOT has scored 770 runs at Trent Bridge — including four hundreds from 11 innings. His average of 85 is higher than at any Test venue where he has batted more than three times.
