SNP MP faces ban over sex misconduct
AN SNP MP who made an ‘unwanted sexual advance’ on a junior staff member faces a two-day Commons suspension.
Patrick Grady, 42, was found to have touched and stroked the neck, hair and back of a younger researcher at a party social event in a pub in 2016.
The SNP leadership was made aware of the allegations in 2018, but Mr Grady remained as the party’s chief whip at Westminster for a further three years. He finally stepped down from the post in May last year.
The Independent Expert Panel, which looks at cases of sexual misconduct, yesterday said Mr Grady’s behaviour had been a ‘significant breach’ of Parliament’s rules. The panel noted the Glasgow North MP’s remorse but recommended a two-day suspension.
