SARINA WIEGMAN admitted it was a tough decision to leave out England legend Steph Houghton for the Women’s Euros but insisted she was not ready to compete. Houghton, 34, had faced a race against time to be fit this summer after achilles surgery in February. Houghton (right) has captained the Lionesses at their last three tournaments and has 121 caps but manager Wiegman left no room for sentiment when picking her 23-player squad. She said: ‘It was a hard decision but Steph is just not ready to compete. She came into training in a good place and we did everything to help her. But it’s a matter of time and we don’t have that time.’ ENGLAND — Goalkeepers: Earps, Roebuck, Hampton. Defenders: Bright, Bronze, Carter, Daly, Greenwood, Stokes, Wubben-Moy. Midfielders: Kirby, Scott, Stanway, Toone, Walsh, Williamson. Forwards: England, Hemp, Kelly, Mead, Parris, Russo, White.
