NHS apologises over ‘eunuch identity’ error
HEALTH chiefs have apologised after publishing a document that called for eunuchs to be recognised as a gender identity.
An investigation has been launched into how the controversial paper came to be uploaded to an official Scottish NHS website.
It claimed ‘eunuch-identified people’ were the ‘least visible’ trans group and would benefit from ‘gender affirming medical care’. But activists said eunuchs were historically forcibly castrated and the ‘barbaric’ practice should not be promoted by the NHS.
Susan Smith, of For Women Scotland, said: ‘We are disgusted NHS Scotland thinks that it is appropriate to align with any organisation pushing “eunuch identity”.’
A Scottish government spokesman said: ‘This material was published in error... we apologise to anyone affected.’
