Lawyer fined for ‘rubbish’ jibe at judge
A BARRISTER has been disciplined after telling a female judge she was ‘talking absolute rubbish’.
Jacqueline Vallejo was ‘rude and unprofessional’ towards the judge and made numerous ‘disrespectful’ comments in front of jurors, a misconduct hearing was told.
At one point during a 2016 trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, east London, she told the judge ‘don’t try to make me sound like an idiot’, and asked her sarcastically ‘is your Honour giving evidence?’
Vallejo was suspended for four months and told to pay £2,000 costs by the Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service.
