Victory for mum of James Bulger
THE mother of James Bulger has won her battle for a Commons debate which could examine why one of his killers was freed.
Denise Fergus said she was ‘over the moon’ yesterday. After a longrunning campaign, she was granted the debate following a meeting with Justice Secretary Dominic Raab, The Sunday People reported. James, pictured, was snatched, tortured and murdered aged two by Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, then ten, in Liverpool in 1993.
Both were jailed but then freed in 2001. The debate, expected later this year, is likely to focus on attempts to rehabilitate Venables, 39, who is now in prison for child sex abuse image offences.
