It is an affectionate moment that every parent of girls treasures.

And for Dame Deborah James and her father Alistair, brushing his daughter’s hair is a particularly poignant gesture.

Marking what she expects to be her final Father’s Day, terminally ill Dame Deborah, 40, dedicated a post to her father as she revealed she no longer has the strength to brush her own hair.

Nicknamed Bowel Babe, the mother-of-two, who has raised more than £6.7million for Cancer Research UK, previously revealed she wanted to celebrate by having a ‘whisky or two’ with her ‘unsung hero’ father.

In another touching post, Dawn French paid tribute to her late father with a picture of herself as a girl, writing: ‘Love you & miss you very much. Happy Father’s Day.’

Meanwhile, it was dad in the hairdresser’s chair for the Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood, 75. His wife Sally, 44, shared a video of their twins Gracie and Alice laughing as they give their father a silly hairdo.

Prince Charles posted a touching tribute to Prince Philip as he marked his first Father’s Day without the Duke of Edinburgh.

the future king, 73, also shared a picture of himself as he relaxed in the grounds of Birkhall, his home on the Balmoral Estate, with a young William and Harry sat either side of him. And Prince William, who turns 40 tomorrow, shared a sweet family photo with his three children on holiday in Jordan.
