SCANDI-CRIME Maria Wern, Acorn TV

THIS Swedish show began in 2008 and is up to eight series and 35 episodes in its native country. The first two series arrive on Acorn today, and introduce us to widowed is struggling to get a real job but is hired as someone who can get awkward bar mitzvah parties going. At one such event, he meets the older Domino (Fifty Shades Of Grey’s Dakota Johnson) and her autistic teenage daughter, Lola (newcomer Vanessa Burghardt, pictured centre with Raiff and Johnson). Domino hires detective Wern (Eva Rose, pictured) as she returns to her job as Deputy Commission­er of Gotland Police. Wern has the kind of keep-calm-and-carry-on attitude that’s very British — and makes her more interestin­g to watch than someone who emotes freely. Her first case involves a murder and a bird flu outbreak.

RURAL IDYLL River Cottage Reunited, 9pm, More4

MORE than 20 years ago, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingst­all began his grow-your-own mission at River Cottage. For this lovely new series, old pals help him to continue it on TV once more. This week, Hugh brandishes a chainsaw as he turns a tree trunk into an insect hotel, and chef Gelf Alderson lends a hand with the new outdoor kitchen.
