Musk 18-year-old changes gender... and aims a bitter attack at father

ONE of Elon Musk’s teenage twins has severed ties with the controversial billionaire and applied to change name and gender.

The former Xavier Alexander Musk wants to be recognised as female and be known by her new name, Vivian Jenna Wilson.

Days after turning 18, the age of consent in California, she applied to Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica to ditch the Musk name.

In the court papers, she lists her reasons as ‘gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form’. The documents were filed in April but emerged this week.

According to the paperwork, Vivian is seeking to change her gender recognition from male to female and wants to drop her father’s surname for that of her mother – Canadian author Justine Wilson, who had five children with Musk before their divorce in 2008 after eight years of marriage.

A court will consider Vivian’s application during a hearing set for Friday. In a tweet on Monday night, Miss Wilson told of a conversation with Vivian: ‘ “I had a weird childhood,” my 18-year-old said to me. “I can’t believe I’m as normal-seeming as I am.” I said, “I’m very proud of you.” “I’m proud of myself!” ’

There has been no explanation of the rift between the entrepreneur – boss of Tesla and SpaceX – and Vivian, who has a twin brother, Griffin. After divorcing Miss Wilson, Musk was twice married to English actress Talulah Riley.

He subsequently dated Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard and until March was in an on-off relationship with Canadian musician Grimes, with whom he has two children. On Father’s Day, Musk – the world’s richest man – tweeted about his seven children, saying: ‘I love all my kids so much.’

He has made no response to the court papers filed by Vivian.

However, he has previously been accused of disparaging the trans community and recently declared his support for Donald Trump’s Republicans, whose elected representatives support a raft of legislation that would limit transgender rights in several US states.

Musk has been accused of poking fun at transgender people for choosing their preferred pronouns.

In 2020, he tweeted, ‘I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare’ and on another occasion he stated ‘pronouns suck’.

Later that year, campaigners demanded an apology after he posted a meme ridiculing people

who list their chosen pronouns in their bios on social media.

Musk is attempting a £36billion takeover of Twitter. Its employees are said to have lashed out at his deal to acquire the social media platform. In an emergency meeting in April, one described him as an ‘ open homophobe and transphobe’ and expressed fears that his ownership would put off potential new recruits.

However, Twitter’s board yesterday unanimously recommended approval of the proposed sale.

Musk is said to be a fan of Florida governor Ron DeSantis, who has been condemned by the LGBTQ community over his ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill which seeks to prevent the discussion of gender identity in primary school classrooms.

In a Twitter thread last week, Musk said he would support Mr DeSantis for president in 2024.
