A NEW subscription service from Paramount Global — owner of Paramount Pictures, U.S. channels CBS, Showtime, Nickelodeon and MTV, and our own Ch5 in the UK — launches here today with 8,000 hours of films and TV. There are some exciting new shows on offer with big-name casts and plentiful budgets. Anson Mount and Rebecca Romijn star in a new Star Trek series, Strange New Worlds, which captures the wonder of the original while giving it a witty twist — and has special effects that’ll knock your socks off. There’s also White House drama anthology The First Lady, which explores the colourful lives of Betty Ford (Michelle Pfeiffer), Michelle Obama

(Viola Davis) and Eleanor Roosevelt (Gillian Anderson, all pictured). Then, there’s The Offer — with Miles Teller, Matthew

Goode and Juno Temple among the cast — which tells the story of the production of the seminal gangster film The Godfather. That’s just the tip of the iceberg — there’s also The Man Who Fell To Earth, with Chiwetel Ejiofor as a visiting alien and sci-fi action in Halo, the first episode of which is also on Ch5 at 10pm tonight. Head to www.paramountplus.com/gb to find out how you can subscribe.
