I hate the sunshine

THANKS, Dr Max. I am relieved I’m not the only one who finds heat and sunshine intolerable (Mail).

As a child, I had bright red hair and was covered in freckles so had to be kept out of the sun because I burnt so easily. The hair has gone, but my loathing of hot weather has got stronger as I’ve got older.

In a heatwave, I stay indoors as much as possible. If I need to go out, I cover up totally, otherwise I feel as if I’m being fried.

My idea of hell is a barbecue. What’s a beach? I haven’t sat on one since I was a nipper.

I go to Iceland for my holidays and I am counting down the days to that first autumnal breeze in the garden.

I call on the summer scrooges of the world to unite!
