MOWING bee orchids growing on a verge (Letters) is typical of councils that pay lip service to conservati­on.

It seems small, but it’s the thin edge of the wedge when local authorites say one thing about protecting the environmen­t, but do the opposite.

Apparently, it’s OK to mow them down!
