Kate’s No1 choice, an ‘ancient’ phone

-

WHEN Kate Bush launched her solo career, mobile phones were the stuff of futurology.

And, nearly five decades on, the singersongwriter, 63, has revealed a preference for a ‘ very ancient’ model. Miss Bush, right, who famously banned phones and iPads from her London comeback gigs in

2014, said a smartphone would disturb her ‘peace’ when she is out and about.

‘I have a really ancient phone,’ she told Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour in a rare exclusive interview. ‘But I like that. I spend a lot of time on my laptop and when I go out it means I don’t have to deal with emails. I just get texts and calls on my phone so it means I get a bit of peace.’

Miss Bush, who did not disclose her make of phone, was speaking to host Emma Barnett after her 1985 song Running Up That Hill was catapulted to number one last week following its use in the fourth series of Netflix hit Stranger Things.

She added: ‘The thought of all these really young people hearing the song for the first time... I think it’s very special.’
