DATING PAST?

I’ve been single for 18 months. I’ve never been married, but I have been engaged a few times and I’ve had boyfriends. It just didn’t feel right. I wouldn’t say I have a type. It’s more about chemistry — it’s either there or it isn’t.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

A Few. It’s always nerve-racking going on a date — but a blind date is even worse.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

He WAS already sitting at the table when I arrived and the first thing I noticed was that he doesn’t look his age. He is tall and slim, which was a relief. I’m not attracted to overweight men. But I knew straight away that I didn’t fancy him, sadly.

EASY TO TALK TO?

So easy and, in fact, as we got chatting, I noticed things about him that made him attractive. He has lovely shiny blue eyes, for example, and we both like cars and travel. We’d both been to France recently so we discussed that and other destinations we’ve loved.

We’ve also both lost our mums and had a similar reaction: we thought, ‘you only live once’. So he went on a trip around the world business class, and I bought a BMW convertible. He has two cars — one classic, the other an Audi.

He also told me about his charity work, which I found interesting and a very worthwhile thing to do. But despite the conversation flowing, it was more like I was chatting to a mate, rather than someone I fancied.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

None at all.

DID SPARKS FLY?

I’M afraid not. I knew within seconds that he was not right for me in a romantic sense, but no hard feelings.

SEE HIM AGAIN?

No. He seems like a good guy, but he’s just not my type.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THOUGHT OF YOU?

He didn’t give much away so I’m not sure. He seems like he has a full and busy life — he had to rush off after an hour-and-a-half to do a charity event, but I didn’t mind.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY LIKE HIM?

They would know straight away that he wasn’t right for me, but I’m sure they would find him easy to talk to as well.

He has good manners and is very approachable. But the chemistry just wasn’t there.
