Held to ransom

-

SO AFTER getting through a pandemic that stopped the country in its tracks, we have to put up with strikes. The rail workers are lucky they all have jobs.

Once again stupidity is tearing our country to pieces when we need to get back on track quickly. We can’t be held to ransom by the unions.

JANE RIDGEWAY, Maidenhead, Berks.

I FIND it difficult to gain any insight into the rail dispute when both sides speak with forked tongues.

However, it seems the RMT has misjudged the national spirit. Of

course they would like a pay rise but it is the wrong time to be arguing when fare income is down by half and unlikely to recover when working from home has become the new normal for many.

R. C. R. CROWLEY, Bovey Tracey, Devon. HOW about rail workers showing solidarity with all of us who need to commute by train to earn a living, especially those who don’t earn their inflated wages or share their ability to blackmail the rest of the country.

Or would it be best if we all worked from home? Then we wouldn’t need trains at all.

JIM CARRIGAN, Oldham, Gtr Manchester.
