COMPARING the salary of a train driver to the low pay of care workers (Mail) doesn’t mean rail workers should get less, but that care workers, nurses and teachers should get more.

all of these essential jobs require many skills and entail considerable responsibility for other people’s safety. The average British wage of £25,000 is misleading because it is skewed by those who are paid obscenely high salaries.

Many of the highest paid jobs are of little value to the country as a whole.

The workers who we could not do without became very apparent during the pandemic and few of them are well paid.

Suggesting that unions and their members are greedy every time they ask for a pay rise, while saying nothing about bonuses, shares, tax avoidance and the profits of energy companies, is biased and unfair.

Have we forgotten that the financial crash caused by the greed of bankers has been paid for by the public with ten years of austerity? plus five years of bickering about Brexit when nothing else was addressed and two years of the pandemic.

people deserve a wage they can live on and should not be demonised for asking for it.
