Gizmo seeks a perfect match

-

TENNIS fever might grip the nation for just two weeks every summer, but homeless hound Gizmo is hoping his year-round love of tennis balls will serve him up an ace home during Wimbledon fortnight. Sadly, when the famous tournament gets underway on Monday (June 27), crossbreed Gizmo will have lived at Dogs Trust Manchester for exactly six months, patiently waiting to find his perfect match.

Now the team at the Denton-based centre are hoping that ball-mad, two-legged friends will take a break from watching the ups and downs of the tournament and consider giving Gizmo top spot at the heart of a new home.

Rehoming centre manager Dawn Bishop says: ‘Gizmo was a much-loved family dog and is absolutely adorable. We can’t understand why people haven’t yet realised what a fantastic canine champion he is!

‘He loves nothing more than saying hello to people and gets super-excited whenever it’s time to head out on an adventure. ‘His cheeky face lights up and his tail never stops wagging. ‘He loves playing with tennis balls, as well as squeaky toys, but enjoys a snooze, too, and often whiles away the hours with us in the office, so he’d make a great office dog!’ Gizmo enjoys getting out and about but as an older boy he doesn’t like to be bothered by other dogs that are off the lead, and would like to be the only dog in the home.

He can live with children aged 11 and over and will make a lovely addition to a family.

She adds: ‘Gizmo is a firm favourite here at the centre but truly deserves a home of his own. Hopefully this Wimbledon fortnight will see him become number one in the eyes of new owners.’
