Mane: I didn’t think twice about moving to Bayern

- ISABEL BALDWIN

SADIO MANE has insisted he ‘didn’t think twice’ about joining Bayern Munich from Liverpool despite rival offers. The Senegal star completed his £35.1million transfer yesterday, signing a three-year deal at the Allianz Arena worth £250,000 a week.

Mane said he felt the moment was right to swap the Premier League for the Bundesliga. ‘The project was the best for me, even though I had other offers,’ he said.

‘Bayern is the right club and it was the right moment to move on and come here and help the team win more trophies.

‘I met the coach (Julian Nagelsmann) which was really important to know the project. ‘When he talked to me about the team, the way they play and tactics — I was fascinated. ‘I didn’t think twice. It’s the team for me. I can help the team achieve things together.’ Mane joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2016 — scoring 120 goals in 269 games for the Reds and winning six trophies. Mane added: ‘I watch not only the Bundesliga but the Champions League — especially when Bayern are playing, and we can achieve big things.

‘I had six wonderful years in Liverpool with very nice people. They were not happy but it’s a part of life.’
