MUSICIAN Derek Atkinson hoped to reunite with two missing members from his first band in the 1960s. ‘Jerome was a band that practised in Handyside Arcade in Newcastle,’ says Derek, 75, from Washington, Tyne & Wear. ‘The Club A-Go-Go was nearby and we could hear Cream, Jimi Hendrix and The Animals playing. Our manager was the colourful Brian Sandells. ‘We played hits and more obscure songs. Geoff Phillips and I alternated lead and bass guitar, Jim Thewlis played drums and was lead vocalist, and John Waugh played rhythm guitar and sang.

Sadly, Geoff has passed away. It would be terrific to reunite with John and Jim.’ John has contacted Derek and is sending his songs inspired by Newcastle United FC.
