The Mail+ readers vote for... Boris

BORIS Johnson may have resigned – but The Mail+ readers want him to stay in No 10.

Our poll found the outgoing leader is your first choice to remain Prime Minister, despite losing the support of his own party.

Readers were asked who they would vote for in a head-to-head contest for the top job among Mr Johnson, Rishi Sunak, Tom Tugendhat and Liz Truss, who has not yet declared her intention to run. It was Mr Johnson who came up trumps with 65 per cent of the vote.

He was closely followed by his former chancellor Mr Sunak, who officially launched his leadership campaign last night.

In the poll of 2,159 votes, Mr Tugendhat ranked last, scoring just 7 per cent. He was 54 votes behind Miss Truss.
