■ YAMANA Gold jumped after it posted a rise in production.

For the second quarter of the year, the Toronto miner produced 260,960 ounces of gold, up from 241,341 in the same period in 2021.

Silver production grew to nearly 2.4m ounces from 1.6m last year.

The results were boosted by the group’s Jacobina mine in north-east Brazil, which delivered a record 49,662 ounces of gold.

The shares rose 4pc, or 15p, to 395p.
