MAN ARRESTED OVER RACISM AT TEST
A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested for a ‘racially aggravated public order offence’ during England’s Test win over India at Edgbaston. Reports surfaced after day four of the Test in Birmingham and West Midlands Police last night confirmed the man had been detained in custody for questioning.
A police statement said at the time: ‘We have launched a criminal investigation into reports of racist, abusive behaviour at the Test match.’ India fans gave accounts of offensive gestures and racial slurs. England captain Ben Stokes
said there was ‘no place for it in the game’.
